Do you Offer Online Therapy?
Yes, I offer secure and confidential online therapy via video calls. Many clients find this option convenient and comfortable, especially if they have busy schedules, mobility issues, or live outside the local area. All you need is a quiet, private space and a stable internet connection. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person sessions for most people.
FAQ
Is Online Therapy as Effective as Face to Face Therapy?
Yes, research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face sessions for many issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress. What matters most is the quality of the therapeutic relationship—and that can absolutely be built through video sessions.
Online therapy also offers some unique benefits:
Convenience – Attend sessions from the comfort of your own home.
Flexibility – Easier to fit around your schedule, especially for busy parents or professionals.
Accessibility – Ideal if you live in a remote area or have difficulty traveling.
Of course, some people simply prefer being in the same room, and that's completely valid too. If you're unsure, we can discuss what would work best for you during our consultation
What happens during the free telephone consultation?
The free 15-minute telephone consultation is an opportunity for us to connect and see if we're a good fit. You'll be invited to share what’s bringing you to therapy and what you're hoping to get from it. I’ll also explain how I work and answer any questions you may have. There’s no pressure to decide right away—you can take time to think about whether you'd like to book a full session.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is all about getting to know you and completing some in-take paperwork. We will complete a theraputic contract, which will outline the boundaries of our relationship, my obligations in relation to confidentiality and GDPR and the frequency of our session. We will then explore what has brought you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns you may have. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your background, and we’ll talk about what you'd like to focus on moving forward. This session also gives you a chance to see how it feels to work with me, and we'll decide together on a pace and approach that feels right for you.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes, everything you share in therapy is treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality. Your privacy is essential to creating a safe and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.
However, there are a few important exceptions to this, in line with the IACP Code of Ethics. I am ethically and legally required to break confidentiality if:
There is a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else.
There is a disclosure of harm, abuse, or neglect involving a child or vulnerable adult.
I am required to do so by a court of law.
If any of these situations arise, I will always aim to discuss this with you beforehand whenever possible.
What is CFT (Compassion-Focused Therapy)?
CFT is an evidence-based approach that helps people develop self-compassion and reduce self-criticism. It’s especially helpful for those who struggle with feelings of shame, anxiety, or low self-worth. CFT draws on psychology, neuroscience, and mindfulness to help you feel safer, more confident, and more connected with yourself and others.
What is CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)?
CBT is a practical, structured approach that focuses on how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours interact. It can help you identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop healthier ways to cope. CBT is commonly used to treat anxiety, depression, phobias, and more. It often includes exercises to practice between sessions to support real-life change.
What is PCT (Person-Centred Therapy)?
PCT is a gentle, non-directive approach based on the belief that you are the expert on your own life. In a warm and accepting therapeutic relationship, you’re encouraged to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. PCT fosters self-awareness, personal growth, and emotional healing by providing a safe space where you can truly be yourself without judgment.
